If you're a member of one or maybe several forums, it's easy to pass time there and not really get much accomplished. The collective influences of the group of people who belong to each forum will very naturally produce identifiable characteristics. You have probably sensed this on an intuitive level if you've ever been a long time member of a forum. When you spend quite a lot of time in a bunch of different forums this will only become more obvious to you. If you know what goes over well and what doesn't, you'll have a distinct advantage. That is just the sort of insight that gives you the power to make sure that the efforts you make are actually effective for you.

All forums and groups have members who become known as "key players"; it's just the natural outgrowth of human nature. This is a natural occurrence that happens every time people with distinct personalities get together and interact. Understanding how key players emerge isn't important; what is important is knowing exactly who those key players are in your forum. Still, quite a lot depends on you, the goals you've set for yourself and the reason you joined the forum in the first place. It might not be a big deal for you to understand who the various leaders and key players in your forum are to you. If you do care it is probably for networking purposes in which case you really do need to care who the key players are. From all the time spent in forums, it is so easy to spot those who are proceeding along with hardly a clue about most things. You can make the efforts you put into your forum marketing so much more effective and profitable when you learn as much as you can and try to dig as deep as you can. The subtle information is incredibly important because it is what helps you figure out what is what and what will give you the best sense of purpose and that is why they are so incredibly vital to what you want to do.
